Cary MacGregor Rotary Club scholarship recipient creates video
Weston Monroe, recipient of a Cary MacGregor Rotary Club $2,000 Scholarship, created a video for his graduation ceremony that offers a glimpse of the farm and community that he was a part of during the past six months. Most of the video are the faces of the apprentices and instructors with whom he worked and learned.
Trustee chair's message: Areas of focus are the causes that drive Rotary
Weston was an Apprentice in Ecological Horticulture, an educational program of the UC Santa Cruz Center for Agroecology & Sustainable Food Systems focusing on practical training in organic gardening and small-scale farming.

The six-month Apprenticeship offers instruction and daily work experience in organic gardening and farming, focusing on ecological interactions amongst plants, soils, climate, insects, and pathogens.
Today's generation supports causes rather than organizations, and so we in Rotary should be able to clearly identify the causes that drive us. These causes are the areas of focus, which are water and sanitation, basic education and literacy, maternal and child health, disease prevention and treatment, economic and community development, and peace and conflict resolution.
