4/5/23 meeting

Heather Hooper, executive director of Dementia Alliance of North Carolina discussed symptoms of cognitive decline described as dementia.
Dementia is not a normal part of aging.
In NC, over 180,000 people are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s dementia. It’s ok to forget where you put your car keys but if you forget you have a car, then there’s trouble.
Normal signs of aging include:
🦋ability to multitask decreases
🦋changes in hearing and vision
🦋occasional forgetfulness
🦋learning new skills takes more time
🦋conversation requires more concentration
🦋trouble recalling names
🦋misplace things more often
